April 2026

Posted on 1st April, 2026

My April Consultation Catch-up has now been sent to 650 colleagues who are interested in public consultation and engagement just in time for Easter reflections. It contains my reaction to the Government’s remarks about the ‘consultation culture’, and my thoughts on Donald Trump’s failure to consult his allies (‘the revenge of the unconsulted!). I include my latest analysis of stakeholder management for TRACTIVITY, lots of legal cases on consultation, an example of when consultation has made a difference and thoughts on the contrasting approaches to community involvement taken for the Pride of Place programme and the NHS Neighbourhood Health plans. For my Easter penance I’ve read “How to save the internet” by Nick Clegg. He seems a hate-figure for many opinionated reviewers. But I found it reasonably good!
